KUAS Kicks off Its 50th Anniversary Celebration
National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences (KUAS) marked the beginning of a year-long celebration to commemorate its 50th anniversary with a special kick-off ceremony on May 25. The ceremony was joined by the Deputy Mayor of Kaohsiung City-- Shi-Fang Liu, KUAS president--Cheng-Hong Yang, and alumni from different parts of Taiwan and the world. The event of the day centered on the festive parade on the main roads circling the campus. The parade, led by Apollo solar car and the fuel cell car--both developed by KUAS, included a horse-drawn carriage, Electric-Techno Prince, and overseas alumni wearing costumes to represent their home countries or places where they currently reside. 
Deputy Mayor Shi-Fang Liu addressed in the ceremony by recognizing the achievement of KUAS in education, research, product development, and industry-academia collaboration. He has witnessed the past achievements of KUAS and its contribution to Kaohsiung city. He wished KUAS a prosperous future and success at KUAS to be the success of Kaohsiung city. In his speech, President Cheng-Hong Yang invited faculty, students, alumni, and community members to take this anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on KUAS’s past successes, present performances, and future aspirations. He encouraged more participation and collaboration from the businesses, industries, and alumni, so the KUAS legacy can be sustained for the next 50 years.
Since its founding a half century ago, KUAS has been a top-rated technological university in Taiwan, serving more than 12,000 students each year with more than 90,000 proud alumni. The 50th anniversary celebration will feature a host of activities. KUAS welcomes the community to join the celebration and continues to support the growth of the university.
