The strategic plan of KUAS on industry-academic collaboration, applied technology and preparing students to meet the needs of industries is once again recognized by the Ministry of Education by awarding the grant for the “Plan for Developing Technological University Paradigms.” The grant is established by the Ministry specifically for technological universities in Taiwan with the purpose to promote innovative research, strengthen ties between technological universities and the industries, and personnel training for meeting the future job market. A total of forty-nine technological colleges and universities in Taiwan competed for the grant. After a thorough evaluation conducted by the Ministry, twelve technological universities, including KUAS, were announced to be the recipients in early May. KUAS receives a grant of NT$80 millions for the fiscal year of 2013-2014. The grant will be used in six main areas focusing on green technology, including developing electric cars, green buildings, smart energy and materials, high-speed communications network and smart business services, green manufacturing, and urban disaster prevention and creative city. In addition, KUAS plans to advance the existing incubation center to offer comprehensive services and continue to strengthen strategic alliance with industries and businesses, and integrating regional resources. With the resources brought by the grant and the collective effort of faculty and students, KUAS will continue to be the leading technological university in southern Taiwan.
