CSU Students Completed Cultural and Language Program at KUAS

Three students from Chicago State University (CSU) were awarded with a certificate of completion for successfully completing the 2013 Chinese Language and Taiwanese Culture Program at KUAS. The certificate awarding ceremony, followed by a farewell party, was held by the Office of International Affairs on June 14, 2013. In his speech, President Cheng-Hong Yang congratulated the three exchange students-- Mitchell Kristie, Janet Lopez and Lawrence Cade-- for their accomplishment and persistent efforts in learning Chinese language. He hopes this language and cultural program has created meaningful cross-cultural learning experience for the students and can be a showcase for attracting more students from CSU and the partnering institutions to study at KUAS.
Mitchell, Janet and Lawrence arrived at KUAS a month ago to learn Chinese and experience Taiwanese culture. During their stay, they have experienced the unique culture of calligraphy, Chinese chess, and Tai-Chi, in addition to Chinese. They also visited various places on the island, including Tainan, Taichung and Nantou. At the ceremony, the three students spoke in Chinese to share their fond memory with the audience. They all agreed that they were mostly impressed by the beautiful scenery, friendly locals, and culture. They hoped they could have the opportunity to visit Taiwan again.
The joint program between CSU and KUAS has been held for six years. The CSU correspondent of the program, Dr. Shen, was pleased to see the continuing growth of the program. She invited president Yang to visit CSU and also hoped to see KUAS students on CSU campus.
